Pagosa Springs, CO

Pagosa Springs, CO
Pagosa Springs may have been my favorite trail stop/resupply of the entire hike. Mainly for one reason: Hot Springs! Moosie and I met OJ in town and the three of us went out for the largest plate of nachos I had ever eaten, a coupe of microbrews, and lots of trail talk. OJ decided he was leaving the trail and would not continue through the Weminuche. We were saddened to leave the only other hiker we knew who could relate to the trials and tribulations of the San Juans, but that's the way it goes. That evening, Moosie and I went to one of the hot springs in town. After a week of being cold and soaked by rain, the hot springs were just what the doctor ordered. Practically a spiritual experience! Even though the springs were basically a large swimming pool, with about a dozen or so fellow soakers, the combination of an intense golden sunset, the hot water, and the relaxing of a sore hiker body made for an unforgettable trail moment...
